How do you keep our small communities thriving and moving forward? GET INVOLVED!
Custer County has a plethora of nonprofit organizations (over 125) that are creating an atmosphere of helping others and creating a community that is strong and vibrant. Ask yourself this question, “What am I doing to help?” If the answer is “nothing,” then make a change! Make that call, text, or email to someone you know that IS involved.
Find your passion for small-town living and pick an organization that reflects your interests. Then BE INVOLVED! Wholeheartedly step in and help make the change, be the inspiration for whatever you chose. Ask anyone you know who serves on a board or organization and they will tell you that new people bring the spark of new ideas and innovation. You must BE involved to evolve your surroundings.
Sustainability only happens when you STAY INVOLVED! It is up to US to keep our communities thriving. Stay involved by recruiting new people, reaching out to someone you know because you heard them mention something to someone that sounded like a great idea. We all have special skills and talents; we just need to bring them together to keep moving forward.
Economic development only happens when we make the choice to get involved. Bring your ideas and make the commitment to changing the world around you. As the saying goes, “A rising tide lifts all boats.” If we all jump in together, maybe we can raise the “tide” for all of the citizens of Custer County. Our little piece of the world is important and can only sustain itself if WE make the choice to sustain it.
